Dear Sponsor,

As a 16-year professional basketball veteran, Samuel Hines had a vision to help educate, elevate & empower our youth when he founded “Securing A Mind Foundation” (SAM-F) in the fall of 2000. With more than 16 years of community service, SAM-F has demonstrated a dedicated passion for working with children of all ages and backgrounds. Established in 2004, Up with Kids Sports, Inc. provides children the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of basketball, teamwork, and sportsmanship from a true student of the game.

foundationThrough a range of programs including an annual youth basketball camp, dynamic school programs and unique coaching sessions, SAM-F mission seeks to foster children’s intellectual, physical, social, and ethical development. From the basketball courts to the classroom, SAM-F also strives to develop critical life skills required to compete in today’s increasingly global society. SAM-F is committed to “coaching in the moment” by advancing pro-social values such as honesty, integrity, accountability, sportsmanship, good nutrition, and mutual respect. SAM-F has based its program on the U.S. Department of Education recommendation that, “A healthy lifestyle helps protect against a host of serious health outcomes, including obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers.”

foundation2A wide variety of professionals including lawyers, correctional officers, social workers, educators, professional athletes, and clergy have partnered with SAM-F in supporting the mission by providing our youth with additional exposure and examples of success. A primary goal of SAM-F is to provide academic scholarships to deserving students for post-secondary education. To this end, local sponsors, including Wal-Mart, Subway, McDonalds, Popeye’s, and Mammoth Carwash among others, have joined the effort by providing discounted services and monetary support.

We thus would like to enlist your support by contributing financially to help us cover the expense of the program essentials such as meals, uniforms, t-shirts, certificates, and educational tours. Your contribution will provide an opportunity for over 1500 area youth to participate in the program.

In good health,
Samuel Hines, Director
